try everything
My father has been quite involved in my life since I was born. He would pick me up from kindergarten every day, take me to work and meetings, and just generally be around.
As a result of that paternal proximity, I have learnt a lot from him. One of those lessons, I remember better than others. It is also the oldest one I remember. Try everything.
It was probably something he created to make a child less fussy about new things, but it stuck around. I've rarely been afraid of trying new things, putting myself in terrible and extraordinary situations.
It's a week later, but using one of those parental lessons is how I'm celebrating Father's Day.
So, for what it's worth, happy Father's Day.
